The Newcastle trainer has Aide Memoire ($26), Danish Twist ($51) and provincial championships favourite Just Dreaming ($23) in the $600,000 group 1 (1500m) for mares at Rosehill.

Hislate father, Max, won the race five times in his illustrious training career and Lees went agonisingly close to his first win last year when Danish Twist was third in a three-way photo-finish.

Danish Twist was third-up and $19 after finishing seventh in the Guy Walter Stakes and fourth in the Breeders Classic. She returns this year following the same path with third in the Breeders and ninth in the Guy Walter.

“She goes into the race pretty similar,” Lees said.“She’s coming off a poor second-up run with no luck, so she profiles a little similar.”

Last year Danish Twist had a rails run from gate one in the Coolmore but she will start from 11 on Saturday. Lees, though, believed she could repeat the effort.

“There’s a lot of speed so I don’t think it’s of great consequence,” he said of the draw.“As long as she gets a bit of cover, she’ll be fine.”

“My best chance is probably Aide Memoire, if the track stays soft.Just Dreaming is going terrific and she’ll run well.”

Lees will also have Doncaster Mile hopeful Prized Icon in the group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m).

He was second to Winx in the Chipping Norton (1600m) last start.

“Dropping back in distance is probably not ideal for him but it’s a drop in class so he’ll be very competitive,” Lees said.

A Doncaster berth is up for grabs in the Ajax Stakes but Lees was confident Prized Icon will make the field regardless of Saturday’s result.

He said three-time group 1 winner Le Romain “won’t be ready in time” for the April 7 Doncaster. However, Prized Icon will be joined bystablemate Clearly Innocent and potentiallyInvincible Gem. Both run in the George Ryder Stakes next week.
